FLAT RATE VERSUS STRAIGHT TIME LABOR

The difference between Flat Rate Labor and Straight Time Labor can be confusing to customers who have not dealt with these types of labor rates.

Team Bozeman has a Posted Retail Labor Rate based on Flat Rate, which is the amount of time an average technician in an average dealership would take to accomplish the task. The data is gathered by third party companies such as Mitchell Manuals or by the various Manufacturers, and clearly state the amount of time each job should take.

Team Bozeman Customers are defined as those persons who have purchased a new or used unit from Team Bozeman in the past five years.

Team Bozeman Customer, as preferred customers receive a 20% discount from the posted retail labor rate, which is calculated on the flat rate basis.

Straight Time Labor is what most independent shops charge consumers, because they often lack the updated technical training to properly work on, or repair a customers unit. Further, most independent shops do not have access to Manufacturers Special Tools which are also often neccessary to complete the proper repairs on customer units.

Straight Time simply means that you will be charged at the shops posted labor rate for every minute spent on the unit, whether it takes them longer than the calculated Flat Rate Labor Repair Time or not.

So while it may seem less expensive when you look at posted labor rates, understanding the difference between Flat Rate and Straight Time may save you a considerable amount of money.
